Genuine Kashmir Pashmina is protected by a formal Geographical Indication (GI) framework. This legal distinction guarantees that the material identity (pure Pashmina fibre) and the traditional production context (hand-spinning and hand-weaving) have been maintained by authorized artisans.
Without product-level verification and verifiable provenance, buyers risk purchasing undocumented, machine-made imitations lacking genuine artisan origins.
PASHMINA AND CASHMERE: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
While often conflated, Cashmere is a legitimate and broad term for fine goat down sourced globally and produced across various scales.
Kashmir Pashmina denotes exceptional regional fibre fineness, geographic origin in the Himalayas, and rigorous manual processing (hand-spinning and hand-weaving) protected by law. True Kashmir Pashmina cannot be machine-spun or machine-woven without violating its GI status.
