Born in the historic neighborhood of Zadibal, Kashmir, Shabir Hussain represents a deep, continuous lineage of master artisans. From an early age, training began under the strict tutelage of family elders.

For decades, Shabir Hussain has refined the art of Papier-Mâché, focusing specifically on the Pounding Pulp stage of production. Vigorously pounds wet paper pulp in a traditional stone mortar. The workshop remains a sanctuary of traditional methods, where ancestral knowledge is preserved.
